Understanding Medical Ethics and best practices is extremely important to effectively comply with the core roles and responsibilities as a Medical Office Assistant. This course will provide you a comprehensive knowledge about the different ethics and compliance attributes that you need to follow when working as an Medical Office Assistant.

In this program, you will learn more about the diverse community of patients based on their age, gender, demographics, language, country and their preferences. You will develop a solid knowlede of how to work and build relationships with the diverse community of patients. 

Interpersonal Communications plays a very important role in the life of an Medical Office Assistant. MOA professionals need to learn to be polite and professional with both the patient and healthcare community. They need to learn and understand ethics and confidentiality while interacting with the different audience community. 

Appointment Scheduling is one of the most primary duties of the Medical Administrative Assistant. There are different types of Appointment Scheduling that a MOA professional needs to know. In addition, the MOA student will also learn about the different types of Doctor Appointments, steps to follow in scheduling a specific time for a patient.  

In this course, you will learn more about the funamentals of Patient reception, registering the patient data in the database, managing and maintaining patient records, update patient records and insurance information for each visit and many other topics. 

Health Information Management is essential for healthcare providers and other HIPAA-covered entities to ensure patient information privacy and security. HIM involves medical coding and billing, ensuring compliance with government regulations, and handling customer requests for Personal Health Information (PHI).

Providers that bill Medicare use codes for patient diagnoses and codes for care, equipment, and medications provided. “Procedure” code is a catch-all term for codes used to identify what was done to or given to a patient (surgeries, durable medical equipment, medications, etc.).

In this course, you will gain a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of Medical Billing. Medical billers take the codes prepared by the medical coder and submit claims to the insurance company. They then follow up with both the insurance company and the patients to make sure the medical office is compensated properly, the patient is billed correctly, and timely payments are made.

Health insurance is a type of insurance that covers medical expenses that arise due to an illness. These expenses could be related to hospitalisation costs, cost of medicines or doctor consultation fees.  You will learn about the different types of Health Insurance such as: PPO, HMO, Point of Service, Exclusive Provider Organization (EPO), and other types of Insurance. 

Health care operations are certain administrative, financial, legal, and quality improvement activities of a covered entity that are necessary to run its business and to support the core functions of treatment and payment. Some examples of health care operations include patient case management, coordination of care within and without a practice, financial management and medical practice human resources. 

Students will be involved in the practicum foundation. They will be required to apply their knowledge in a practicum provider place and develop their skillsets. This will provide them a core foundation in becoming a successful Medical Office Assistant profession.

Students will learn and develop their resume writing and interview skills for securing opportunities in the market. They will also learn the different job hunting techniques in securing employment as an MOA.
